Back to the Books
Only played about 500 hands today. Started with a little .50/$1 and finished off with some .25/.50. overall I won about $75. Throughout my session I felt very uncomfortable. I know I butchered a few hands and I just think im putting myself in alot of tough spots with my 100bb stack ive been playing with. I think im going to take the rest of today off and try to read the rest of Professional No Limit Hold'em. I Believe that the second half of this book will solve alot of my problems and after reading today I think I will start playing with a smaller 40bb stack.

Ouch
Just dropped about 3 buyins in 622 hands after dinner. I definitly wasn't playing my "A" game but didnt play too bad. Some really unfortunate situations came my way. It started with me flopping bottom set and my opponent flopping top set. That really sucked but this hand here just made me laugh. http://www.pokerhand.org/?1349511
Im lucky this hand was only for half a buyin. I know these things are going to happen so im gonna have to take it in stride and hop back on the horse tomorrow.

Grinding
I couldnt go to sleep last night because I was watching my recordings of Entourage and WSOP 07. The WSOP had a shortstacked Phil Hellmuth making funny laydowns and talking shit the whole time, it was pretty entertaining. I woke up today around 12:30 pm and immediately logged on to pokerstars for a session.
I always 4-table so its hard for me to play a ton of hands in a short period of time. I played for about 2 hours and15 minutes and logged 765 hands. I had a decent result of +$40 on the session but It was a really boring and I only played like 2 noteworthy hands.
This is the first http://www.pokerhand.org/?1347654
Villian here was running 43/22 so I knew he was capable of a loose preflop raise and loose 3-bet call. Honestly when he snap called my flop c-bet and I put him on the jack or weak pair but with the turn being a jack also I began to be suspicious. I decided betting the turn made no sense and checking was best. At this point I though he either had the jack, 66-99, or like AK, AQ. After calling his turn bet and a 3h coming on the river i checked and he shoved for $39. I really sat for a while and thought of folding..... but then really examined his paHUD stats. His aggresion factor by street showed that this player tries to steal alot of pots on the turn.
Flop AF - 1.67 Turn AF - 4.5 Riv AF - 2.5
folding river really makes my turn play make no sense. If I had the best of it on the turn the 3h doesnt scare me at all. Then I buckled down and called because of the high propability he was trying to steal on turn and rived was a desperation push. I was right and I think I played this hand pretty well against this particular opponent. Now if my opponent was a 18/15 TAG or whatever I think I would have probably had to get away from this hand.
This is the other notable hand that I think I played poorly. http://www.pokerhand.org/?1347684
I though his lead for $8 did not mean the 10. I really thought that this was 44-99 or JJ. The other opponent was so short that I wasnt really worried about his call. I tried to isolate the shorty but it backfired when the villian who lead for $8 snap called my shove. Looking back on it I think I should have either smooth called or folded. I raised 5xbb pre-flop so his call/lead was real fishy. I like calling on the flop because I think most of the time he would have bet again w/ the T and slowed down with 44-99 so I would have had a much better idea of what he was holding. Im gonna take a break for a few hours and try to play about 750 more hands later tonight.

Trouble Moving Up
I woke up this morning and thought it would be a good idea to play some .50/$1 NL. I dropped 2 buyins in my first 150 hands and got about half a buyin back in my next 200 hands before switching back to my normal limit of .25/.50. I finished my day with around 700 hands of .25/.50 where I lossed another buyin.
I'm very surprised how incredibly different the people play at .50/$1 then .25/.50. WAAAY more 3-bets go down preflop and my opponents just seem all together more aggressive. I really feel in control of the table when I play .25/.50 but the exact opposite is true at .50/$1. I need to train myself to play the same at all limits and quit being a pussy. Its not necessarily the money that makes me play different but for some unknown reason when I play .50/$1 I feel like I need to make more moves or whatever, and I seem to stack off really light. Here is a hand that just makes me want to puke when I look back on it. http://www.pokerhand.org/?1345933
I like my 3-bet preflop but I think calling is fine too. After he checks on the flop I also like my bet but after he puts in the reraise to $45 its SUCH an easy fold. When I play higher stakes then what im used to I have a bad habit of assuming my opponents are putting moves on me. My flop shove is sooooo terrible i cant even begin to explain. After the check raise on the flop I should have put my opponents range on atleast JJ+, and 2 overs and the flush draw. I have absolutely no equity against this range and ZERO fold equity. Looking back on this hand it just looks like I wanted to give my last $87 away.
I need to learn a lesson from this hand while at the same time completely erasing it from my memory. I dont really have much to do tomorrow so I plan on getting alot of poker in. Im going to try and play about 1500 hands of .25/.50 and if im killing it I might take another shot at .50/$1.
